International Research on Precision Medicine Ethics: Knowledge Base and Hot Frontiers
Abstract: With the development and application of precision medicine, its derivative ethical issues have become increasingly apparent. However, domestic research on precision medicine ethics is very limited. A systematic review of international precision medicine ethics research is helpful to provide theoretical references for domestic research. Based on the SSCI database, CiteSpace software is used to analyze the knowledge graph of the international precision medical ethics literature. The research has led to the following conclusions. (1) Basic research in disciplines such as biomedical ethics, big data medical ethics, and medical management and policy together constitutes the knowledge base of the current international precision medicine ethics research. (2) The current hot frontiers of international precision medicine ethics research mainly include topics such as precision medicine’s scientific research ethics, distribution justice, privacy protection, and public ethical attitudes. (3) In the future, precision medicine ethics research can explore research objects from general to specific, explore research methods from norms to empirical research, and seek theoretical innovation from ethics to management. Key Words: Precision medicine ethics; Knowledge graph; CiteSpace; Big data

Scientific-related Populism in Contemporary Western Society: A New Scientific Culture Phenomenon
Abstract: Numerous surveys indicate that western societies are generally facing significant challenges related to scientific-related populism, especially in contentious scientific issues that involve high levels of public engagement, profound ethical implications, and issues of trust and transparency. These issues include environmental and climate matters, matters of life and medicine, data and artificial intelligence, and more. Individual attitudes towards scientific-related populism may be influenced by various personal factors, including age, gender, education level, political ideology, ethnicity, scientific interests, and media exposure. Societal attitudes towards scientific-related populism may be shaped by factors such as the politicization and commercialization of science, the relationship between the general public and scientific elites, and the diversity of expert opinions. In recent years, there have also been signs of scientific-related populism emerging in Chinese society, primarily manifested in a crisis of trust in experts. However, there are differences between Chinese and western societies in terms of the focal areas, target subjects, political dynamics, and communication media associated with scientific-related populism. In the future, it will be essential to carefully consider the varying connotations of similar concepts in different contexts, actively explore explanatory connections between classical theories and emerging phenomena, and prudently anticipate and address the potential negative consequences that scientific-related populism may bring about. Key Words: Scientific-related populism; Trust in science; Crisis of trust in experts; Public; Elites

The Identity Dilemma in S&T Ethics Research
Abstract: Although emerging as a prominent field, research on the ethics of science and technology (S&T) continues to face multiple identity dilemmas. The first is that of conceptual boundaries. Despite the ubiquity of ethical discourse today, core concepts remain increasingly ambiguous. In reality, S&T ethics is transcending the scope of traditional research ethics and technical ethics, pointing toward a form of social ethics for the “Age of S&T”. The second dilemma is that of disciplinary identity. This necessitates establishing a clear position amidst multiple relationships: clarifying the correlation between the generality of S&T ethics and the specificity of domain ethics, while properly handling the relationships between drawing on international discourse and constructing an autonomous local knowledge system, and between upholding interdisciplinary openness and scrutinizing the vision of disciplinary institutionalization. The third dilemma is that of practical functionality. Traditional normative paradigms are insufficient for effectively guiding governance practices. There is an urgent need to develop empirical research methods, including surveys, case studies, big data analyses, and experimental simulations. Future research should construct a multi-layered conceptual framework, strengthen empirical studies through interdisciplinary collaboration and global dialogue, and establish an academic system that effectively serves the governance of S&T ethics. Key Words: S&T ethics; Identity dilemmas; Age of S&T; Disciplinary identity; Empirical research
