
Abstract:
The Chinese American scientist Shou-Cheng Zhang is unanimously regarded as one of the greatest contemporary physicists. He was born in a Shanghai intellectual family, studied in the German and American institutes, and became a faculty member at Stanford University since 1995. He did superb research in the field of high-temperature superconductivity, topological insulator and quantum spin hall effect. This paper intends to reveal the complicated correlation between academic mechanism, society and scientists by introducing the unique life of Shou-Cheng Zhang.
