Abstract

The subject that engineering ethics is always concerned with is how the engineering activities implement public good. However, because engineering products depend on public power and resources, the intervention of public power and political induction is inevitable. Vanity projects have caused tension between engineering costs and benefits, which not only harm the public interest, but also destroy the principles of social justice and cause the crisis of legitimacy in some ways. It is important to emphasize the ethic responsibilities which engineers should take from the perspective of ethics, but it is equally important to discuss the power factor and political mechanism in engineering activities from the perspective of political science. Therefore, it provides a new way to solve the tension between engineering and social justice to move from the relatively developed engineering ethics to the undeveloped engineering politics.
