Abstract: Dreyfus critiqued symbolic artificial intelligence through the lens of “skillful coping”, highlighting the non-reflective aspect of human intelligence and the significance of the body in cognitive processes. This critique offers a fresh perspective on human action, practice, and meaning. Despite advancements like neural networks post-symbolic AI, Dreyfus’s critique remains relevant and continues to offer valuable insights for the advancement of artificial intelligence, given its fundamental exploration of human intelligence.
