A Brief Study on the History of Euclid's Elements in Korea Abstract: Scholars of Chosen Dynasty (1398-1910) of Korea began their contact to the Chinese translation of Euclid's Elements in the late 17 th century. There appeared dozens of scholars who were interested in the Elements from the middle 18 th century. They collected, made copies, studied and researched Elements, and left behind some works and writings. This paper consists of four sections. Firstly, what was the situation of the work and how the mathmaticians acted when Elements was introduced into Korea. Secondly, how the dialogue on the Elements between Qing mathematician He Guzhu and Korean mathematician Hong Jungha presented. Then, two cases of studying and applying the Elements by Korean scholar Lee Yik and mathematician Hwang Yunseok are provided. The Introduction of Modern Chemical Experimental Knowledge in Scientific Apparatus: Chemical Apparatus Abstract: Scientific Apparatus: Chemical Apparatus is the first systematic translation of chemical instruments introduced into China in modern times. It contains twenty-one chapters, which describe each instrument in detail in terms of its function, shape and material, as well as instructions on its use and other matters needing attention. Because the book integrates a lot of chemical experiment knowledge, it becomes a practical manual of experimental instruments for chemical workers to study and consult. It has high professional value and plays an important role in the modern communication and spread of chemical knowledge in China. Research and Practice of Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Institute on Extracting Barium from Sichuan Salt During the War of Resisting Japanese Agression Abstract: Part of well salts in Sichuan contains barium which is poisonous and excessive intake can cause arthralgia. This natural fact and disease truth were revealed and solved when the Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Institute moved to Sichuan in 1938. The Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Institute investigated the distribution and composition of brine in Sichuan, found that some yellow brine contained barium, and gave an objective evaluation on the harm and industrial use of barium in brine, and studied the method of detecting the amount of barium and extracting barium from salt, and actively cooperated with the government to implement barium extraction. This process demonstrates the demeanor of “absolutely believe in science in principle, and serve the society as the greatest honor in spirit” of the Huanghai Chemical Industry Research Institute. More importantly, the institute has played a powerful role in promoting the solution of the barium salt problem.
