A Discussion on Ethical Boundaries of Gene Editing for Humans: The "He Jiankui Event” Viewed from Moral, Philosophical and Religious Perspectives
Abstract: There are many reasonable points in current genetic ethics and bioethics, which include restrictions on the application of gene editing technology and the prohibition of the enhancive gene editing. However, in terms of the use and study of germline gene editing, current genetic ethics have only issued a warning rather than any prohibition; they even give it encouragement in the general direction. This has to be considered as a serious inadequacy or defect of current genetic ethics. For all of this, it is necessary to introduce the ‘principle of prohibiting germline gene editing'. This kind of principle of genetic ethics is based on natural religion and anthropocentrism, which can be regarded as its metaphysical foundations, with the purpose of keeping the human gene pool as pure as possible. Natural religion is a religion in the broad sense that can coexist peacefully with and promote science. It has a long tradition in both the West and China. In order to prevent another ‘He Jiankui event', we should work along two lines: on the one hand, we should establish and improve the rules and regulations under discussion; on the other hand, we should lay the appropriate metaphysical foundations for those rules and regulations.

The Philosophical Basis of the Metaverse and Its Ethical Issues: And a Discussion with Professor Zhai Zhenmin
Abstract: The metaverse is the expanded world in which the virtual world interacts with the real world, and the ontological tenet of the metaverse is the principle of priority of the real world, and its metaphysical basis is the requirement of the transcendental self-uniqueness. What derived from this are the basic principles of metaversal ethics, namely the principle of harmlessness of the virtual world, the principle of voluntariness of the virtual world, the principle of distinguishability of the virtual world, and the principle of prohibition of duplicating human beings. The concept of “expanded reality” was first explicitly put forward by Professor Zhai Zhenming, but he adheres to the principle of equality between virtual and real worlds, and proposes “world-making ethics”. On the one hand, he advocates the transcendentality and uniqueness of the ontological self, but on the other hand, he equates the real world that can better embody this uniqueness with the virtual world that cannot embody this uniqueness, which leads to a theoretical inconsistency and puts his world-making ethics in a dilemma. Key Words: Metaverse; Virtual reality; Expanded reality; Uniqueness of self; Principle of priority of the real world

Supervenience Dualism and Panpsychism: A Study in Panpsychism Based on System Monism
Abstract: With the development of modern science, the ancient panpsychism rises quietly, which has got not only responses in microphysics, but also resonances in macrophysics and cosmophysics. When the probability wave described by the wave function is interpreted as a belief wave from the perspective of probability philosophy, many puzzles are eliminated, so that the micropsychism can be strongly supported. The neutral monism of James and Russell has a great influence on the contemporary panpsychism. By comparing the two, we draw the enlightenment of system panpsychism; and strengthen the purpose panpsychism and system panpsychism from Kant’s transcendental teleology. Furthermore, we illustrate a new panpsychism—supervenience dualism based on system monism. Everything is a system, which is both the program of system ontology and the fact of contemporary science, therefore, micropsychism, macropsychism and cosmopsychism belong to system panpsychism with supervenience dualism as its internal composition. Key Words: Panpsychism; System monism; Supervenience dualism; Neutral monism; Schrödinger’s Cat
